1.  Peltola.  The campaign of our Indian Maiden, Mary Peltola blew up nicely last week with the fecal matter of democrat dirty tricks diddling the Ranked Choice Voting ballot tomorrow meeting the rotating machinery of intentional election fraud.  Feds anted up with at least 40 subpoenas which means a Grand Jury is active up here, Decoy Dan from Petersburg joined another democrat operative in hiding, though we think he is in one of the 42 USFS cabins nearby in the Tongass rather than departing the fix for Europe (Ireland?) like the other operative did in August.  Media coverage was thick and continuous, perhaps more than it should have been in the eyes of some astute observers of the political wars up here, one of whom I am happily married to.  Are we going too far?  At this writing, dunno.  Hope not.

  • Trigger for all the festivities was a NYT piece Oct 28 detailing the coordinated effort of the Peltola Campaign, DSCC and the rest of the democrat ecosystem to find candidates to run for US senate in Alaska.  Top priority was some bozo with the same name as incumbent Dan S Sullivan.  They found one of those with Decoy Dan from Petersburg.  Second on the list was any number of “Republican” candidates to also run against Sullivan, this time to his right, so as to properly split the vote.  The NYT piece detailed the recruitment process.  Democrats ended up with one of each, Decoy Dan and Gerald Heikes, though there were others approached.  Both are completely externally funded.  Both made the final four on the Nov ballot.
  • Note that this has been going on since the first half of 2025, something democrats involved lied in both federal and state court about for at least a year, as did the two candidates (Decoy Dan and Heikes) who couldn’t identify who recruited him.  It is those lies that may get some very high-priced democrat lawyers a trip to Club Fed (Mark Elias, I mean you).  Note that this is a multi-pronged approach, not only recruiting someone (or multiple someones) with the same name, but recruiting as many others  willing to front a fully funded, external campaign running to Sullivan’s right.  This year, they got one of each.
  • Why this approach?  Dirty tricks are always attractive, especially those that appear to work.  Democrat operatives in the Peltola and DSCC campaigns were positively giddy about the focus group testing of the fake Dan Sullivan approaches, chortling about having a scheme for you.  Things that work really, really well are difficult not to use.
  • Also complicit in this little Passion Play are the Alaska Courts, who fell all over themselves figuring out how to keep the fraudulent candidates on the ballot while completely ignoring all concerns of fraud committed by the Decoy Dan campaign.  On Jun 29, the AK Supremes issued a one-sentence opinion after the State of Alaska Division of Elections attempted to boot his sorry carcass off the ballot, and left town, promising an actual opinion sometime in the next 18 months. Such is what passes for studied jurisprudence here in Alaska.
  • As previously mentioned, there are at least 40 federal subpoenas written, either served or incoming.  Witnesses are disappearing.  And Peltola is in complete denial mode, though the game is looking a bit threadbare as the week dragged on.
  • One interesting thing about Peltola.  She is on her 4th Marriage, having been divorced at least twice before.  Her former, recently deceased husband Buzzy Peltola was reportedly in the process of filing yet another divorce complaint.  This puts Peltola in a very exclusive club, as in the US, women typically file the divorce papers.  Peltola has had at least 2 and possibly 3 such complaints filed against her by husbands, something completely at odds with the normal divorce here in the US where the woman typically files and does it first.
  • Final piece is that after the Trump DoJ announced its investigation into democrat election fraud, Lisa Murkowski channeled her inner Orange Man Bad, and denounced the intervention, piously thundering about unwarranted federal intervention into a pristine state-run election.  Polling on that little statement must have been awful, as it took her less than 36 hours to do a complete 180, decrying corruption in the senate campaign and demanding Peltola come clean.  Ironically, Lisa Murkowski’s fingerprints are at the center of the festivities, as on of her mouthpieces, local lawyer Scott Kendall was at the center of drafting and passing the ballot initiative that rewrote state election law giving us Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) under which this entire charade is playing out.

2. Brazil.  In a wildly unexpected upset, incumbent Brazilian President Lula da Silva won the runoff election for president a week ago.  The election shenanigans were similar to what we saw here in the US in 2020.  The win was by 4 million votes, with 10 million increase in his total runoff votes showing up out of thin air.  Opposition to Lula in the first round was entirely from the political right with multiple candidates.  His opponent Flavio Bolsonaro did not quite break the 50%+1 forcing a runoff.  If these results are to be believed, every single one of those anti-Lula right leaning voters switched to Lula rather than Bolsonaro.  The trick seemed to be last minute Brazilian Supreme Court intervention that gave Lula-friendly voting precincts another two hours to vote after the rest of the country had been shut down.  This particular judge did not have the authority to approve the continuation, as there is another entire election court charged with that job.  One of the things Brazil does when they close the polls is lock the machines and run an electronic count right after closure, making it almost impossible to reopen voting.  The Lula friendly polls did not do this, meaning they knew it was coming.  Immediately following announcements of results, Brazil’s dictator judge Alexandre de Moraes ordered federal police to seize Bolsonaro passports and forbade him from leaving the country.  He and his family fled to Argentina, crossing a bridge on foot after midnight and flying a private jet to Miami where he requested political asylum.  Moraes was in the process of putting Bolsonaro into prison like he did with his father.  As of this writing, the communists won this one, at least for a little while.  Their crackdown on opponents is just getting started.  I expect things to get much uglier in Brazil before they get better.

3.  Quantico.  A 27-year-old former DACA recipient and Mexican national was arrested a weekend ago taking a sledgehammer to a carved replica of the famous Iwo Jima monument just outside the main gate of Marine Corps Base Quantico on Oct 21.  The original was cast and is located on Arlington National Cemetery.  Both statues are viewed with no small amount of reverence by Marines.  By the time he was stopped, he had knocked one head off and was working over the rest of the statue, doing significant damage.  Estimated cost of damage to the limestone statue is hundreds of thousands of dollars.  The perp entered the country illegally in 1999, received permission to stay in 2014 under DACA and an extension in 2024.  His latest request of extension was denied in Aug.  DHS jumped on this quickly to ensure the illegal-friendly Spanberger administration in VA did not take custody of this clown.  I expect him to eventually be deported, though not until he has worked off some sort of repayment of damage caused.  There is no explanation for the vandalism, though given the timing, I would not rule out grumpiness with rejection of his most recent DACA extension in Aug.

4.  US.  Things got spicy at the UN last week during a speech by UN Ambassador Mike Waltz criticizing the Cuban government for living the life of luxury while grinding their people into economic dust.  Particularly infuriating to the Cubans were photos of family members of Cuban government members on yachts playing with luxury goods, all illegal in the hands of Cuban citizens, which is why Waltz used the photos.  The Cuban Foreign Minister was in attendance, and did not take the presentation well, coming out of his seat, marching to the front of the floor, yelling and threatening Waltz.  US staffers were also on the floor, recording the speech and the confrontation on video.  One member of the Cuban delegation physically assaulted the group during the mele.  He was stopped, arrested, and deported within 24 hours.  He was welcomed as a conquering hero upon his arrival home.

5.  FBI.  The Trump DoJ formally charged a pair of senior FBI officials with lying to congress as part of their coverup of the Hunter Biden laptop during the 2020 election.  The lying took place in 2023.  Both were in the Foreign Influence Task Force leadership.  The task force is charged with monitoring foreign election interference and intentionally downplayed the contents of the laptop as Russian disinformation to voters in 2020.  As usual in DC, the magistrate assigned the case started out highly skeptical.

6.  SPLC.  The SPLC was one of the leading leftist NGOs aimed at all things conservative.  It started out as a small civil rights law firm in 1971.  The initial focus was free legal representation to people in the south facing discrimination and the lingering remnants of Jim Crow-era segregation.  Over the years, that focus moved a bit, with the introduction of their Hate Map and eventual morphing into a functional Stasi, aimed at all things Republican.  The game was pretty easy: Label any person or group racist, enshrine that on the hate map, and use that labeling to label them as political terrorists and remove them from the financial system.  Their mission expanded to the extent that they became the largest funding source for actual hate groups, particularly the Klan and neo-Nazis.  The hate map eventually became a political hit list for Washington.  The powerful tool they had was the ability to remove a group’s access from the American financial system, debanking.  Even with leftist management, the banks were in a tough spot, having to defend a continuing banking relationship with any group accused of being racist.  Normal leftist Board / Management simply made it easier to pull the plug.  This fed into the FBI, particularly under O’Bama and Biden.  The SPLC was an integral part of the industrial censorship complex.  This started changing this year with a federal indictment for wire fraud, bank fraud and conspiracy – essentially paying informants and the actual hate groups to create hate, the ultimate self-licking ice cream cone.  Trump also shut down the industrial censorship complex and refocused the FBI.  But make no mistake, even if the SPLC is gone, there are hundreds of leftist NGOs ready, willing and able to fill the void on day one of the next democrat administration.

7. Oregon.  It is always instructive to look at the reaction of committed leftists to a school shooting, especially when a Good Guy with a gun stops the shooter.  This one took place in Bend, OR, around Oct 18.  The 16-year-old former student entered an elementary school and shot up its Special Needs room, killing 3 and wounding 20+ others.  He was tracked down by a parent who carried his firearm from his vehicle, entered the school and with the help of a teacher, shot the perp before he could murder more.  Th woke governor initially praised the action but dummied up quickly afterwards, choosing to focus on recovery rather than prevention.  Gun control is normally in her wheelhouse, her go-to response.  But she is currently running neck to neck with a Republican for her reelection, which explains her decision to be careful.  Both Oregon US Senators (democrats) quickly blamed the shooting on Republican failure to support gun control laws.  Arizona’s Mark Kelly, was not far behind, demanded congressional action.  From here, the best change congress could make is ensure that public schools are no longer free fire zones for Bad Guys with guns.
