1. Lawfare. Multiple lawfare associated stories this week. Most of them pretty good, a couple not so much.
- Jack Smith dropping both cases in federal court against Trump. The classified case in Florida was already dead because the presiding judge found Jack Smith was not properly appointed, and not allowed to prosecute the case. The DC case was on life support with the assistance of Judge Chutkan, who has enabled Smith to smear and slime Trump in material released to the public by Smith with her permission Smith, always the weasel, is doing his level best to ensure both cases continue to hang over Trump’s head ad infinitum, requesting the cases be dismissed without prejudice, meaning they can be reinstated by the next democrat headed Department of (In)Justice. Obviously, both cases need to be dismissed with prejudice. For his part, Smith is preparing a “report”, yet another smear job that he will write and send Attorney General Garland, who will in turn release it to the general public before Trump’s second inauguration. Expect the very worst when this one comes out.
- Reid Hoffman funded the E Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit against Trump. This was the lawsuit that ended with a $93 million civil judgment against him earlier this year. We have democrat billionaires funding lawsuits aimed at bankrupting Trump in state courts. Nice (In)justice system you guys have in NYC. You must be very proud. I wonder if civil RICO aimed at Hoffman and Carroll is applicable here.
- The most reasonable doubt was expert testimony that the chokehold used to subdue the perp did not kill him. Indeed, he was still breathing when turned over to the police when they arrived. He died under police care, likely from a heart attack connected with all the drugs in his system, not unlike George Floyd in Minneapolis. If the chokehold doesn’t cause death, then Penny is not guilty. For their part, the Bragg team is referring to Penny as the “white guy” in court (the perp was black) in their attempt to whip up racial animus to the maximum amount possible so as to guarantee a conviction. Their problem doing this is that if it were black passengers who took action against a homeless predator who was any other color, no charges would have been brought. Indeed, a second passenger who was black helped Penny. He wasn’t charged for some reason. Watch this case closely, as it will go a long way toward telling NYC residents whether or not they have a civil society, a society that race baiting vermin like Bragg and his team are doing their level best to destroy. Last I checked, passengers of all colors ride the subways. Maybe not much longer.
2. Lisa. I have been writing about Alaska senior US Senator Lisa Murkowski and her personal animus against Donald Trump. My guess was that she knew had an increasingly difficult road to travel, trying to balance her animus with her desire to remain in the senate, and would watch her mouth. Boy, was I wrong. Lisa took the knife, put it in her teeth, lit her hair on fire, and is busily setting herself up as the center of anti-Trump activity in the US Senate, sort of the angry Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney. Her constituents here in Alaska are having none of it so far, ripping her multiple new bodily orifices every time she runs her mouth. Her latest a week ago was the announcement that she would not vote for any Trump nominee unless that nominee had a full background check by the FBI. This is the same woman who voted for almost all of the Biden nominees, yes, even the mentally ill ones, and had not a single word to say about FBI corruption since 2015. Must Read Alaska posted multiple Lisa stories demonstrating her ongoing fecklessness since the election. Those stories set records with the number of angry comments, comments I expect Lisa’s staff are reading. Will this pressure do any good? Unlikely, as she is as stubborn as she is stupid. Keep this up, sweetheart, and you are going to have a very unpleasant four years. Couldn’t happen to a nicer young lady.
3. Robot Dogs. Technology continues to move in places and directions we would rather it not go. Drones are one vector that we will be dealing with in the very near future, as the drone war between Russia and the west in Ukraine is about to go worldwide. The other vector will be the advent of robot dog packs. And these robot dogs will be fitted with weapons from guns to flamethrowers. The flamethrower version can be had today for $9,400. They are already being designed as amphibious. Once you have sufficient autonomy, you can program them for a target and turn them loose. This will change warfare in a way few today expect. Think of Terminator with smaller, more agile killers.
4. EV. Cali’s ongoing war against all things Musk just extended to EV’s with new EV rebates proposed in the event the incoming Trump administration cancel federal EV rebates. Governor Newsom proposed extending a new version of the state’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program. Which was phased out in 2023 after funding nearly 600,000 vehicles. The rebates would be funded with money extorted from “polluters” (and anyone else Cali can gouge) under Cali’s cap and trade program. No word about how much money the program would cost or save customers. I’ll take the over on the cost side. The attack on Musk comes with proposed changes to promote innovation and competition in the zero-emission vehicle market, changes that will specifically exclude Tesla, the only EV currently manufactured in Cali, from the program. Musk described the new program as insane.
5. President. It has been a long time since we’ve had an actual, operational president, as Biden seems focused today on little more than pardoning members of his criminal enterprise / crime family. Into the void, steps the President Elect, one Donald Trump, who is stepping out smartly on foreign affairs. He threatened 25% tariffs aimed at Canada and Mexico unless they closed their borders. Interestingly enough, after a bit of grumbling, both announced they were closing their borders. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau even made a trip to Mar-a-Lago to visit Trump. Mexico’s’ incoming El Presidente didn’t make the trip, but she managed to announce that a pair of smallish caravans had been turned back. Trump has told both Putin and Zelensky the Ukraine war was over. Both are positioning themselves for negotiations, which are likely well underway. It also looks like the Middle East will be next up to bat, as Israel just accepted a 60-day cease fire imposed under Biden regime threats to withhold all shipments of weapons and ammunition. Those 60 days will be up shortly after the start of Trump’s term in office. There is something going on in Syria, leading to speculation that the Assad government is about to be removed from office. Final player here is Iran, which doesn’t want regime change, especially theirs. The possibility exists that Trump is looking at some sort of a grand bargain in the Middle East. Think of it as an extension of the Abraham Accords, that will include all the players (Middle Eastern nations, Iran, Russia, Israel and the US). A lot can go wrong. But as with the Abraham Accords, a lot can go right, even if whatever happens first is a small piece, a start, or better yet, a system, which is what the Abraham Accords actually were.
6. Redskins. Multiple conflicting reports last week that the former Washington Redskins, current Washington Commanders were thinking about bringing back their old symbol, the one with the Blackfeet chief drawn by a Blackfeet artist and approved by the Blackfeet nation. The denials, particularly out of the sporting media, are particularly noisy. Remember that the sporting media were the cheerleaders who led the call for this name change. They will not quietly stand by and watch it get rolled back.
7. Kids. One of the basic lessons men learn in the Divorce Wars are that their kids are chattel property, usually under control of the soon-to-be-ex-wives. This property is regularly used to extract just as much pain and resources from the father as humanly possible, at great emotional cost to everyone involved. Last week’s example of this was a split family. They start fighting over transitioning in Texas when the boy is 6 in Texas state courts. Mom decides his name is Luna and starts putting him in dresses. Dad strongly disagrees, losing a chunk of joint custody every time they go to court. Mom eventually gets tired of courts who don’t agree completely with her and decamps to Cali two years ago to take advantage of Cali’s trans sanctuary law. Dad stays in Texas. Texas state courts are no help. The court battle lasted for at least 6 years before a Cali judge put an end to it by stripping all parental rights from the father. Chemical castration of the kid is next on the docket. Neither Texas state courts nor Cali state courts have covered themselves in glory on this one. Second story concerns a VT family whose son was injected with a COVID-19 vax without either their permission or knowledge. They sued the school that was protected by VT courts. The case went all the way to the VT Supreme Court which also ruled in favor of the school (governments always protect governments in these matters). The VT Supremes based their ruling on the federal PREP (Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness) Act, a federal law intended to shield vax manufacturers from liability, a completely asinine ruling, as the parents were suing the public school rather than the vax manufacturer. As I said, another example of governments protecting governments from lawsuits. The parents are taking their case to federal court hoping to get the cowards on the VT Supreme court slapped down nicely. We will see how far they get. They are raising funds publicly for the appeal. OTOH, tar and feathering of the public-school employees who participated in this outrage might work better. The sooner these clowns, and their fellow travelers start fearing public reaction to their perfidy, the better,
