1. Assassination. More info trickled out about the investigation into the political assassination of Charlie Kirk last week. Along with it was a public discussion of the violent subculture of violent trans, AKA Transtifa. More on that in a bit. The perp used his grandfather’s Mauser 30-06 hunting rifle. This is a very old weapon with no serial number. He did inscribe messages on the casing of the three unfired and one fired rounds recovered indicating his connection with gay / furry / trans culture. His roommate (paramour) is reportedly a transitioning young man who is cooperating with law enforcement. It appears that the local online community was aware of the plot beforehand, with as many as 20 people commenting on since deleted posts suggesting they knew planning for the assassination was underway. There is also some level of assistance implied in the posts. For instance, one elderly lefty in the crowd immediately came forward after the shooting claiming he was the shooter. He was immediately arrested, though every bit of effort law enforcement spent on this bozo was effort not spent apprehending the perp as he escaped, which was the plan all along. Whether this sort of thing ends up being like-minded individuals doing their level best to help or a coordinated network is anyone’s guess. I tend to believe the former. Either way, the FBI is reportedly investigating that network. A group that calls itself Armed Queers, Salt Lake City deleted its online presence the day of the assassination. The group is a LGBTQWTF revolutionary organization that preys on confused youngsters and has been quite active on campuses in Utah with support of the local faculty. They provide firearms and operational training to that segment of the population. We are still in the Fog of War part of the festivities, and I do expect more to dribble out as the investigation proceeds. We are about to learn that the trans community is just as actually mentally ill as many of us thought it was, and when armed, is just as dangerous as any ISIS / Islamist True Believer, and just as dedicated to the destruction of this nation as the Islamists were.
2. Reaction. This is where it gets fun, for the political right has taken up the fight and are starting to use the newly created cancellation tools so graciously handed to us by the lefties who apparently never considered a world where their weapons would be captured and turned against them. The awful, striking, gleeful, joyous reaction by tens of thousands of lefties celebrating the assassination was a real eye opener to many on the right and the middle that hadn’t been paying attention. Today, over half the citizens of this nation are in the process of realizing that we are being called Hitler and Nazis not because the left thinks we will do that sort of stuff. Rather, the name calling is an orchestrated effort to dehumanize those of us on the right and make us easier for their crazies to kill us. And just as the O’Bama – Biden regimes did with federal law enforcement and (in)Justice agencies, the dehumanization makes it much easier to do whatever they want to do to us once they return to power. The treatment of Jan 6 protestors and the anti-abortion protesters was not an aberration. Rather, it was just a start. Where has the normalization of political violence come from? From leftover 1960s radicals who disappeared into academia and became the driving ideological force on the left. Lifetime tenure allows their poison to work for a long, long time. The most immediate reaction on the right to the outpouring of ugliness following the assassination was a demand to cancel those who publicly celebrated the murder. Like we saw following Jan 6, a network sprang to life that has reportedly gathered 50,000 names of leftists who ran their mouths publicly following the murder. They are now in the business of being fired and banished from public life. Harsh? You bet, though not nearly as harsh as publicly celebrating murder of an innocent. Perhaps the biggest concern is the inordinate number of educators, academics and medical professionals among the celebrants. Perhaps the most notable cancellation was Jimmy Kimmel who called the shooter MAGA and blamed the whole thing on MAGA. The claim echoes an orchestrated lefty lie calling the perp a Republican (like his parents, though the 22-year old appears to be rebelling). The kid appears to have been aided and abetted by his college profs and online co-conspirators. ABC / Disney asked Kimmel to apologize and suspended his show after realizing that he was going to double down the next night. The Tonight Show was replaced with reruns of Celebrity Family Feud. Where is this all going to end up? Quotulatiousness suggests that there are three possible futures following the shooting, each more extreme than the other. In order, the possible futures are….
- Popular revulsion against above-ground leftists. The gives the Trump administration political cover to go after Antifa and its shadow funding network hard . Both are smashed. Agents of influence in the media and academia continue to self-destruct. Relatively few are arrested, but their millions of above-ground tools are isolated and demoralized. If things don’t go this way, it will likely be because lawfare prevents the counter-subversion push from being fully effective. A negative indicator would be another high-profile political assassination or attempt against a conservative target after four months or so, which brings up to option two…
- A period of Caudillismo. A charismatic strongman rides popular anger into powe4r. If this happens, the left better pray this is an infuriated JD Vance because any other alternative is likely to be worse for them. The crackdown against the communist network will become brutal and use extra-constitutional means. At the end of this, there will be right wing death squads. A possible outcome to this will be certain parts of the country becoming no go regions for federal agents. Historic precedents to a failure of this would be a resurgence of armed banditry starting with political goals and decaying into general purpose mayhem,
- Finally, if things decay even farther, we get to see a reprise of the Irish Troubles or Bosnian solution here in the US, essentially a low-grade civil war. This could not be an uglier solution,
There is no doubt that the political left will lose the current festivities. The only question is how soon and how bloody they want that defeat to be. The uglier the victory, the uglier the after-action reconstruction will be. Look no farther than what liberated Europe did to the Nazi collaborators after liberation by the allies in 1945.
3. Antifa / Transtifa. Speaking of correlation of forces (a nice Soviet warfare phrase), we have the current manifestation of violence on the left, Antifa, and their evil twin Transtifa. These guys are organized, international, trained, funded, and about as nasty a group of individuals as ISIS or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps members are. Over the last decade, Antifa, originally founded a century ago, became operational in the punk scene 40 years ago and came into their own in two stages starting in 2007 and were used powerfully starting in the anti-Trump protests starting Nov 2016. It has been a pretty good decade for them. While their base of support is centered on the left coast (Portland and Seattle), they have managed to extend their mayhem nationwide, usually in blue cities, participating in riots. They are well funded and backed with a pre-positioned and prepaid legal team charged with getting them out of jail free. The legal team does its job well. President Trump designated them as a terrorist organization last week, which looses the tender mercies of the Patel – Bongino FBI upon their smug, nasty carcasses. I do not expect them to be primarily funded by leftist billionaires. Rather, I expect their funding stream to be laundered from government sources like USAID and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance through the leftist NGO network, with no small amount of CIA and FBI participation. That little network is about to get rolled up. Similarly, the network of violent trans assassins known on the political right as transtifa is now on the radar stream with a series of assassination attempts (Kavanaugh) and school shootings. Their existence is buried to the maximum extent possible by the media and social media companies. As an example, I typed transtifa into Google AI while writing this and got the following result:

4. TPUSA. I am something of a data dink, though these when most, if not all data is garbage, that runs into the Garbage In, Garbage Out (GIGO) wall. But a few numbers for your consideration. Take these as order of magnitude indicators to, however poorly describe the massive movement that many of us feel was triggered by the assassination of Charlie Kirk. One of the ways to characterize this is the growth of TPUSA. Before the assassination, Turning Point USA (TPUSA) had 900 chapters in colleges and universities and 1,200 in high schools. USA Today claimed higher numbers with 3,500 chapters, and a combined membership of 250,000 students. New chapter requests have skyrocketed since the murder, with anywhere from 54,000 – 66,000 by week’s end depending on whose bogus numbers you believe. This would be an increase of 26 – 34 times the number of chapters. If those new chapters are established, we are looking at a total membership of TPUSA affiliated students 6.5 – 8.5 million, an appreciable percentage of the 15 – 17 million high school students (2021) and 18 million college and university students today. Do the math, and if this growth is realized, TPUSA will reach out and touch up to a quarter of every single student in secondary and post-secondary education in the not-so-distant future. The entrenched Marxists are gonna have their hands full in the very near future. And it couldn’t happen to a nicer group of people.
5. Powell. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is taking some well-deserved criticism from some large caliber free market economic experts on the political right. First up was Stephen Moore April 23, with withering criticism. Miller concluded that firing Powell would unnecessarily roil the markets. The problem is that his wantonly political, anti-Trump activities have continued over the last five months and gotten worse. Not only has he failed to demand Lisa Cook to resign after mortgage fraud on at least two properties, but he has put up with her multiple public stories to explain the fraud. Cook was retained because she votes with Powell. The most recent criticism came via Larry Kudlow, who wrote a piece in Real Clear Politics Powell’s Mismanagement of the Fed is Beyond the Pale last week. Kudlow points out that Powell is intentionally underestimating economic performance under Trump, currently percolating along at around 3% growth. Powell’s Fed predicts half of that, 1.6% this year, rising to 1.9% over the next two. This mismatch allows the Fed to keep interest rates artificially high, strangling the housing market with high interest rates. While the Fed did cut interest rates by 25 basis points, Kudlow believes it should have been twice that. Meanwhile, the WH predicts the economy next year should be loping along at 4% growth. Powell attacks Trump immigration policies and tariffs as restricting growth, and he may be right about that, but he never mentions the pro-growth impact of tax cuts, immediate expensing of capital purchasing, deregulation, or pro-growth energy policies. Under Powell’s leadership, the Fed is now losing money on their bond portfolio, borrowing money at 4.5% while only generating 2.5% income. This is losing money, with some estimates as much as $250 billion this year. If Powell and his Smart Guys are singularly unable to manage their own portfolio, how can they possibly manage an entire economy in a quickly changing world? Powell must resign. His term in office expires May 2026. Will he be able to tank the economy in time to impact the 2026 midterms? Unlikely, though it appears he is giving it the full college try.
